How to Make Best Nutritious Meals

Spend some time looking at the ingredients when you shop for groceries next time. Fruits and vegetables are naturally free from any added ingredients. This is all you need to know.

This was something I tried and it took me two hours to complete a grocery shopping trip two years ago. I looked at everything in the package to see if it was anything that wasn’t found in nature. This included breakfast cereals and yoghurt, cheeses, ready meals, pizzas, pastas, cold meats, sweets and sauces. It was, quite frankly, a wake-up call.

Don’t believe everything you see on the packaging. Read the labels on the back and make your decision. You can decide for yourself whether to include preservatives, colourants and additives in the diet. You may also want to limit your intake of sugar and salt. Even the most basic of foods can be loaded with ingredients that you would not choose to eat. Even a cold roast chicken leg, and thigh contained Demerara sugar, apparently to give it that brown look.

It’s back to basics: you want it to be as original as possible.

Organic is the first prize. Although it may cost more to buy organic fruits and vegetables, what do you pay for your health and well-being. You would want your food to be free from pesticides. Pesticide use has increased 50 times since 1950. Organic food is free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Although the relevant governing bodies will inform you that the amount used is within the safe limits for a particular food item, they do not tell you the consequences if you consume small amounts every day for fifty-years.
